Waters Conference Centre, Shatterprufe was awarded two Merit Awards in the Corporate Category, one Environmental Award and one Innovation Award.

The Awards are organized by Exporters Club of the Eastern Cape and this year was the 32nd Awards Ceremony.  The awards recognize companies who have excelled in terms of exports over the past year.  Shatterprufe was the overall winner in 2010 and last year won a Merit Award for Environmental awareness.  This year’s achievement means that Shatterprufe has now been recognized by the Exporters Club for three consecutive years.  The overall winner this year was Eberspacher.

The Environmental Merit Award was presented to Shatterprufe in recognition of efforts to save water at both Struandale and Neave and the Innovation Merit Award for Shatterprufe’s process improvements on Struandale’s doors glass stream.  In handing out the Awards the Exporters Club noted how Shatterprufe had implemented many initiatives to conserve water, specifically the tanks at Struandale and the cisterns at Neave.  They also noted how at Struandale Shatterprufe had used the improvements in cycle time on the CSF along with other initiatives to build export stocks in order to improve our Export delivery performance.

Being recognized for our environmental and process innovation efforts is a major achievement for Shatterprufe and one that we can certainly all be proud of.

Thank you to everyone at Shatterprufe, for your contribution towards us achieving this Award.

Make sure your windscreen is fitted correctly!!

E-mail Print PDF

Posted by jonckie in November 25th 2011

A windscreen is either fitted right or wrong – there is no path down the middle! As we head towards the December Holidays it is important to check that your windscreen is correctly fitted and that it is the genuine Shatterprufe windscreen.

We would like to share the above informative clip from Springbok legends and commentators Kobus Wiese and Ashwin Willemse!

Six Shatterprufe® facts that could save your life

1.   Shatterprufe® enables the airbag system to function effectively

Inferior, ill fitting windscreens pop out on impact.  This results in the airbag flying out of the window resulting in the passenger being crushed against the dashboard.  Shatterprufe® provides a solid area for the airbag to deploy effectively thus protecting the occupants of the vehicle from serious injury.

2.   Shatterprufe® prevents projectile objects from penetrating the windscreen

Shatterprufe® uses original equipment specifications when it comes to glass thickness and quality.  Shatterprufe® also only uses virgin vinyl – beware of windscreens containing recycled vinyl. Recycling and using recycled goods may be the “green” thing to do – but not when your life is at risk.

3.   Shatterprufe® prevents the vehicles roof from caving in

Inferior windscreens will pop out in an accident situation.  Shatterprufe® windscreens are designed to say in place, which prevents the roof from caving in.  This safety feature assists to prevent occupants in the vehicle from being crushed. Shatterprufe® provides up to 30% of the vehicle’s strength.

4.   Shatterprufe® keeps passengers in the vehicle in the event of an accident

Inferior, ill fitting windscreens will pop out in an accident situation.  Passengers are then at risk of being flung out of the vehicle, having the vehicle roll over them and crushing them in the process.

How can my driving help to avoid windscreen damage?

E-mail Print PDF

The Arrive Alive website and Car Insurance Blog often receive queries from vehicle owners about damage to their windscreen caused by road construction whilst driving in construction zones. Most of us have experienced the dreaded noise of an object striking our windscreen from a passing vehicle. This is often regarded as those annoying insurance claims as we can too little to avoid the damage...or can we?

We decided to raise this with well known windscreen manufacturer PG Glass to benefit from their experience and info received from millions of chipped and repaired windscreens! We would like to share some of the advice given to the Arrive Alive website:

Windscreen Damage on South African roads

Based on the experience of PG Glass service centres more than 90% of windscreen claims result from stone damage.

It is accepted that debris on the roads like stones, rocks and grit will always have a direct influence on the number of windscreen claims. The more debris found on the roads, the more windscreen replacements you can expect.

Consequently, the concentration in the construction of new roads and road repairs that preceded and followed the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa did contribute to a higher incidence of damaged windscreens.
